Transitional Man

Lori Cramer

He showed up at my door and introduced himself. I wanted to offer him a cold soda, but my refrigerator was unplugged, so I took him on a tour of my house, from the attic to the basement. The next morning, he came to see me again. We discussed books, baseball, and movies. I asked him if he’d mind rearranging a few pieces of furniture for me. He obliged. Before he left, I wrote him a check. Since then, I’ve given his number to many of my friends. They all agree he’s the best moving man in town.
